SURYA LITTLE

Co-founder of Prajna Yoga with her husband, Tias, Surya specializes in women’s health, nutrition and therapeutic yoga. Her classes are dynamic and light-hearted while cultivating a strong mental and physical practice. She gives private yoga sessions and nutritional consultations.

Surya has traveled the globe studying various facets of yoga philosophy and practice and her path includes parallel studies in yoga and nutrition. She teaches from an intuitive understanding of the energetics of the body and combines expertise in yoga therapeutics and nutritional knowledge. She is an avid student of the Chinese Five-Element theory and studies qigong with the MogaDao Institute. Her extensive training is in both Iyengar and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Surya began her studies in Iyengar Yoga with Karin Stephan and Aadil Palkhivala and continues to study today with Patricia Walden.

In 1987, she began her spiritual healing while living in Switzerland at the Hairakhandi Babaji Ashram. Surya traveled to the foothills of the Himalayas to practice bhakti and karma yoga within the community of her spiritual teacher, Hairakhand Babaji. Inspired to study food, healing and yoga as a way of life, Surya studied at the Ayurveda Institute in New Mexico, studied macrobiotic healing and taught cooking classes in New York. With her expertise in nutrition, Surya cooked and taught yoga for members of the Royal Family in Ryaad, Saudi Arabia. Surya lived in Nepal from 1993-1998 teaching yoga and traveling to Mysore, India to study directly with K. Pattabhi Jois.
